Purposes and Functions of the Federal Reserve

Steven Fisher will discuss the unique quasi-governmental structure of the Fed, the historic events that led to that structure, the responsibilities of the central bank, the current Fed leadership, recent evolution in the payment industry, and the role of the Fed in the United States economy.

Steven Fisher is part of the Community Engagement Group at FRBSF and is based at the bank's Seattle Branch.  He joined FRBSF in 1999 and frequently speaks to community and business organizations about the purposes and functions of the Federal Reserve.  Steven worked for two financial services firms prior to joining the Fed and has a bachelor's degree in Communications/Public Relations from Pacific Lutheran University.

This event is a joint effort of NAIFA Lane County and FPA Mid-Oregon.
